Fabricated Seashell

Site-specific installation with an epoxy-resin sculpture

5 x 15 x 7 cm

This sculpture originates from a seashell that I found during a hike on Waiheke Island, New Zealand. The object was digitized into a 3D model, then carved in wood by a CNC machine. From the wooden form, I made a silicon mold and casted it with epoxy-resin. These series of copying and transforming led to a fabricated version of a natural object, that did not resemble the original one at all.

The fabricated seashell was brought to the place it originated from.
